David Hardie
David founded Hallador in 1974, and was the Company’s CEO until 2022, when he became Executive Chairman. While David is less involved in day to day operations, he remains involved and sits on Hallador’s Investment Committee. Prior to founding Hallador, David was the President of Hallador, Inc., a financial services firm for the Robert and Jane Hardie Family in Sacramento. The family owned one of the three founders blocks of Freedom Communications, a diverse newspaper and television company which was sold to Blackstone in 2004 for $1.85 billion. He is a Director and Founder of Hallador Energy Company (HNRG) a NASDAQ listed company; and is on the board of the Parasol Tahoe Community Foundation. David graduated from California Polytechnic University, San Luis Obispo in 1974 with a Bachelor of Science in Business Administration and; Finance/Accounting and completed the Owner/President Management program through Harvard University Business School in 1990.
